Temple Run: Oz app Review

Temple Run: Oz app Review

Ever since Imangi Studios launched the endless running game Temple Run for Android, it made sure that we never stopped running. The game has seen 4 versions since the original release in August 2011, with the sequel, Temple Run 2 launching earlier this year in January. The game has not just been appreciated, but went on to break the record of Angry Birds Space clocking in 50 million downloads in just 13 days.Find more news on 9Game.

Of these 4 versions, two are spin-offs released in association  with Disney. While one was Temple Run: Brave, based on the animated Disney/Pixar movie Brave, the more recently launched Temple Run: Oz is inspired form the upcoming Disney movie Oz: The Great and Powerful. We started running in the new environments to find out if it continues to keep us just as addicted as the original game.

Temple Run: Oz stays true to the game's tradition of non-stop running as well as turning, jumping and sliding to avoid hurdles and collecting coins. But since this version is based on Disney's movie, it incorporates a lot of elements such as new environments, objects and characters. You run as The Great and Powerful Oz down the mesmerising Yellow Brick Road in the Whimsical Woods and The Dark Forest.

Now instead of the three demon monkeys or one big giant weird-faced monkey, you're being chased by three flying baboons at the start of the game and every once in a while when you stumble while running.

The game is definitely more challenging than the original one but similar to Temple Run: Brave and the recently launched Temple Run 2 in some ways. It seems to have gotten faster as well, demanding greater focus and better reflexes. The obstacles in the game are quite tricky and catch you by surprise. They appear only when you approach them really close, unlike the earlier games where you could see them well in advance.

Plants in the game often leap from locations on the side of the path, attempting to grab you as they fall. Trees also often fall, seemingly out of nowhere, into the path to block your way. But the obstacles are just one part. The path itself will sometimes crumble while you're on high bridges or cliffs, forcing you to make a split-second decision to move to the side of the bridge that remains intact.

The musical backdrop of the beating drums has been replaced by the movie's background score that adds a lot of intensity and keeps the adrenaline rush going. As always, the graphics are really smooth and you'll be in awe of the surroundings and the attention to detail.

Temple Run: Oz also has certain common elements as seen in the Brave version of the game. You could collect bows in the game to unlock different bonuses like extra score points and score multipliers at the end of each running session. Here the bow has been replaced by a musical key to unlock the music box for similar bonuses. Further, you can choose to open all the boxes in case you're feeling too greedy, by paying additional coins.

A new element in the game as is the essence of the original Wizard of Oz movie is time travel with the tornado in a manner of speaking. While running you come across sign posts guiding you which direction to take and soon enough you'll see yourself transitioning between worlds with the yellow brick road collapsing before you and taking you to a different location.

The Whimsical Woods are set in bright environs but dangerous all the while with cliffs and forests. The Dark Forest is set in a graveyard amidst ruins of stones and gives a sense of evil lurking around. After each running session, if you happen complete that particular level's challenges, you level up and are awarded with gems or coins.

Another pretty neat movie-inspired element is the hot-air ballon which appears at several points in the game for an additional opportunity to collect coins as you sail through the clouds and make your way across the crystals reminiscent of Emerald City.

The balloons appear on the screen, and head quickly in one direction at a crossroads. Follow the balloon and hop on to take a balloon trip through the clouds. In case you don't feel like it, you can always choose to head out in the other direction.

The game also offers additional power ups every now and then which include a magnet, a flying monkey and a soap bubble amongst others. Gems can also be used to "supercharge" power-ups. For instance, the 2X coin power-up becomes a 3X coin boost at the cost of 1 gem.
You can opt for Weekly or Legendary Challenges from the Menu section that also award coins, gems and multiplier bonuses. These include challenges like Marathon Man (run a certain distance), Big Time (Get 125,000 points in 1 run), Steady Bankroll (Collect 25,000 coins) and many others.

Overall, the game offers a fresh perspective in terms of being movie-inspired. Apart from that the basic mechanics of jumping, sliding and tilting remains the same. Currently, the app is only listed on the App Store and like other Temple Run games, we'd hope to see it launch for Android as well. (Update: The game has now been released for Android as well priced at Rs. 53.18 in the Google Play Store).

Even though the app isn't free, Rs. 55 ($0.99) seems pretty decent to try out something new. Those who still wouldn't mind skipping this version, can check out Temple Run 2 that's also new release and is available for free.

Zombie Highway Tips

Zombie Highway Tips

9GameZombie Highway is a driving/zombie game. The aim of the game is to kill zombies while driving. There are many different types of game modes including:

•Classic
•No Weapons
•The Mist
•Less Travelled
•Hardcore
•Frost Bite (Latest Version)
•Swamped
•Infinite Ice (Latest Version)

Tips
If you want to kill the zombies quickly then i suggest:
•Ramming them into the debris
•Shooting them with your weapons
•Making the zombies miss you while they are jumping
•Running over them
•Getting close to them
•Making their health bar flash

Ramming
Ramming the zombies into the debris is the first thing you learn or do in the game. Basically you ram the side of your car onto the oncoming debris, damaging the life of the zombie. Damages vary between the different types of zombies.

Shooting
Shooting is the most easiest thing to do on the game. Just tap/hold on the side of the screen to shoot the zombies. There are plenty of weapons to choose from a revolver to a minigun, you can even get a flamethrower (latest version).

Jumping And Missing
This tactic is a little difficult. To do it, wait for and upcoming zombie, and when it is about to jump or in mid-air, take a swerve to the left or right depending on which side the zombie is on. After you do that, the zombie will fall, do a tumble roll and eventually die.

Running Over Them
This is another way to kill them. You may notice that there are some zombies in the middle of the highway. Just run over them. It slows your vehicle down but it is the only way that kills the zombie instantly. Not only you can run over them in the middle of the highway but if your lucky enough without crashing into oncoming debris, you an run over them on the side as well.

Getting Close
With the zombies in the middle of the highway or directly next to debris, you don't want them to get on your vehicle right? And you don't want to waste your bullets right? well this is one handy but a little difficult tactic. If there are zombies next to debris or in the middle of the highway, get as close as you can to them. They won't be able to climb to your vehicle.

Flashing Health Bar
If you want to make more damage to the zombies then heres how you do it. You can either ram them onto the debris or shoot them. Once you do one of those things, you will notice that the health bar will flash. If it flashes it means that is has gone weak for about 2 seconds. In that two seconds, shoot it or ram it into more debris taking up more damage.

How To Kill An Ice Zombie
Killing an ice zombie is simple, getting the weapon is not really simple. You have to first unlock the Flamethrower to kill the zombies. Its the fastest and easiest way to kill them. To unlock the Flamethrower, you have to kill 250 ice zombies first on either the two new levels. It does sound hard but really its not.

Teen Patti - Indian Poker:The Origin of Poker

Teen Patti - Indian Poker-The Origin of Poker

Do you know the origin of Teen Patti - Indian Poker. Let us go back in time, before there was a game called Texas Hold'em, or even before there was a game called poker.

While it is commonly believed that poker was created about the same time that Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden, or even that playing poker in the Garden of Eden was the actual reason for them leaving, despite what other sources may say about apples or snakes, the actual appearance of playing cards occurred around 1377.
The actual beginning of card games, as we know them today, was first recorded by a Swiss Monk named John of Rheinfelden. John recorded a card game played in 1377 with a deck of 52 cards. The cards ranged from 1 to 10 in value. This seems to be the best evidence that 1377 is the first year that history documented a card game being played with a 52 deck of cards.

The Chinese were recorded as participating in the actual playing of card games around 950. However, even though it seems clear that the Chinese were probably the first to play a game with cards, the card deck did not contain 52 cards as a modern deck does and the game the Chinese played was more akin to dominos than poker.

So, as far as the origin of a 52 card deck, and games played with it goes, it seems the John from Rheinfelden tale holds the most water, as he took the time to write about the game he observed in 1377.

Having established written records of card games played with 52 card decks in 1377, next is the task of searching the origin of modern poker.

Since 1377 a number of cards games have been played with 52 card decks, most of which bear little or no resemblance to poker. Many were card games just for recreation, but without betting or wagering, while others were betting games but had no similarity to poker. After extensive research, I found two games that had not only similarities to poker and were betting games, but actually used many of the phrases we use for modern poker.

First, I discovered the game from India called "Teen Patti". The game included betting rounds like poker and was played with a 52 card deck. "Teen Patti" also uses a number of poker phrases and hand rankings similar to poker.

Secondly is the old English game of "Brag" which not only includes the similarities of "Teen Patti" but is most likely the origin of modern poker phrases like: blind, blinds, flush, pot, etc. Brag also had betting rules and card ranking similar to modern poker and was played in 3 different versions using either 3, 4, or 5 or more cards dealt to each player. Most importantly, the game involved bluffing, which is what separates poker from most other card games.

However, Brag or Poker could not have been played until cards which contained the four suits of Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs had been invented. Diligent research reveals that these suits were invented by the French and standardized throughout Europe by 1480 as the commonly agreed upon suits of the 52 card deck. Now that we have at least the minimum tools required to play Brag and Poker, let's see how long it took our ingenious forefathers to come up with these games.

Early versions of Poker games (called The Lying Game) were described by Joseph Crowell in writing in 1829. Brag games are considered much older and may predate poker by a few hundred years; although, no written records appear to exist to actually date when the first Brag game was played. It is documented that early settlers to America from England brought with them both Cards and their Brag type card games, which eventually became so popular that even native Indians took up the game of Brag or similar gambling card games.

Around the 1850's the Riverboat gamblers were born. These were the early pioneers of Poker, both in the old west and on the riverboats, and they were a curious combination of Professional card players, gamblers, gunfighters and cheats. We assume that the gun fighting skills were essential if you wanted to survive cheating at cards. Various forms of poker flourished, including 3 Card Monte and early versions of stud poker.
The name "Poker" may have evolved around that time from either the French card game name 'Poque', or the German card game expression of 'Poche' or also a possibility, considering the number of cheats and pickpockets who played cards, the slang word for stealing, which was "Poke". Its pretty clear that one of these three names was the origin of the word 'Poker'. The 'Poke' theory is especially interesting, as it already had four of the first letters right and the first poker games were aptly described as 'The Cheating Game' or 'The Lying Game'

From these games and others, Stud Poker eventually evolved to become

the worlds most popular poker game.

As for the modern game of Texas Hold'em Poker, this apparently was invented around the 1920's after it was discovered that the game of Stud Poker could not accommodate all the Texas ranchers that wanted to play, since the cards would run out before all the players had been dealt their cards. Legend has it that it was invented in Texas, which seems reasonable, considering the name. Texas Hold'em Poker, despite its apparent appeal both to beginning poker players and seasoned veterans, did not take the world by storm. In fact, Hold'em poker did not become widely popular until it was adopted as the game of choice for tournaments such as 'The World series of Poker' and later the 'World Poker Tour'.

Join me next time, as I look into what many consider to be the world's first 'famous poker player'.

Temple Run Oz Review: A Movie-themed Game

Temple Run Oz Review: A Movie-themed Game

Temple Run Oz (Android) is another movie-themed version of the mega-popular running game provided by 9Game, but just like Temple Run Brave, the developers managed to add enough original content to make it worth your money.
The Good: Temple Run Oz has lush environments, a tried-and-true game mechanic, and unique new worlds and mini-games that differentiate it from other Temple Run games.

The Bad: Strange progress bars when you enter a new world are distracting, and it seems silly that the game would have them at all.

The Bottom Line: Anyone who likes endless runners or who has enjoyed Temple Run games in the past should check out this game for the new worlds, obstacles, and mini-games.

In Temple Run Oz, you play as Oz while attempting to outrun the evil flying baboons from "Oz the Great and Powerful." Like Temple Run 2, you'll need to swipe to jump, turn, and slide under obstacles and you can tilt to move Oz from side to side on the path. But with this themed remake, the scenery has been completely redesigned to fit in with the movie, and there are new game elements you'll have to tackle in order to survive as long as possible.
In other words, you're not just getting an older game with a new "skin"; Temple Run Oz uses the same core gameplay, but adds plenty to make the game unique on its own.

Game Review on Road Smash

Game Review on  Road Smash

Do you enjoy the game called Road Smash? Some game players have reviewed the game and here comes one of the reviews. Let's read it together.Mama always said, start with the positives. The graphics of Road Smash are very good. It looks like a quality mobile game. It’s a little 2D, if you will allow, but that doesn’t detract from the quality of the graphics.

The first thing you’ll notice when you download and start playing Road Smash for Android is that the controls aren’t like your typical mobile racing game.
Basically, the goal is to get as far along the road as possible. As you go along there are more obstacles, and you eventually have to outrun the cops. That doesn’t come along until later. So basically it’s just a driving/racing game. It has nice graphics.
