Frontline Commando 2: How to win?

Frontline Commando 2: How to win?

9Game: This article will teach you how to win in Frontline Commando 2.

War: depending on which video game you draw your real life principles from, it either has changed or never changes. Scholars often question what it is good for, with some concluding that the answer to that is absolutely nothing, good god y'all. Whatever one thinks, it's clear that a great many people enjoy playing games based around war.

Recently, the flavor of war that has been most popular is the modern variation, something which I am sure is in no way connected to what Activision's Call of Duty series has been doing. Frontline Commando 2 takes the familiar series gameplay and brings it into the Black Ops era, with the results being more or less as expected. Some people love it, others hate it, but everyone likes to save a few bucks, so here are ten tips and hints for playing Frontline Commando 2 without needing the financial backing of a PMC.

Spend your gold on items. Gold is a premium currency, but you'll earn it here and there for finishing certain missions, leveling up, and so forth. Realistically, you'll almost never earn enough to buy one of the premium weapons, so you're better off spending it on items that can help you get past tough battles. You can also earn some extra gold by watching ads, but unless you're incredibly persistent and stick with it regularly, it's really only good for topping off your next item purchase.

screen1136x1136

Always keep a sniper rifle with you. You can carry two weapons into battle, and one of them should always be a sniper rifle, even if you have something more powerful. There are always going to be distant enemies, and if you're not packing a sniper rifle, you'll have to depend on your squad to take them out. Your squad is helpful, but believe me, you never want to be relying on them.

Shotguns complement sniper rifles well. So, with the sniper rifle in tow, you can choose your other weapon from an assault rifle, a machine gun, or a shotgun. Naturally, if there's a big power disparity, you should go for your strongest gun, but if they're more or less the same, you'll probably want to bring the shotgun with you. Its extreme power at close range, amazing effectiveness at headshots, and vehicle/cover destroying properties all add up to make it a very useful tool for things that can't be sniped.

Until you've got something really good, don't bother upgrading your weapons all the way. While cash isn't a huge problem in this game, upgrading a weapon fully is quite expensive, and not really worth it if you're going to be upgrading to something better soon. Unless you're waiting to reach a higher level to unlock new weapons, you really should be saving up to earn better guns rather than throwing too much cash into something you're going to discard. Upgrade them about halfway, or as needed.

screen1136x1136

Upgrading your squad is money well-spent. The squad is the main new element inFrontline Commando 2, and you'd be wise to keep your buddies in mind. Often, using your money to level your team up can prove more useful than maxing out your weapon. Again, though, you'll want to be careful about getting too invested in any of your one-star members, since you might end up replacing them. It's good to keep one of each type in your leveling loop so that you're never left without the squad you want at the level you need.

Pick your team according to your needs. There are four types of teammates, but you can only bring three. Someone has to be left on the bench. You should almost always have your medic with you for obvious reasons. Besides the medic, the other roles have situational uses. If you've got sniper troubles or aerial vehicles causing you problems, you'll want to bring someone who can use RPGs. If you're going to be facing up against land vehicles, grenades are extremely useful. Finally, if you're dealing with overwhelming numbers, the drone can provide an excellent distraction while you whittle down the pack. In PVP matches, a grenade-user is a must. Grenades can solve all kinds of problems, and if you're playing against another player's team, you don't have to worry about aerial vehicles.

Don't be afraid to use your items if you think it'll help you secure the win.Basically, getting access to guns requires you to level up. PVP doesn't give you much experience points, and repeating campaign missions isn't a whole lot better. Getting a higher level and gaining access to better gear is best achieved by progressing in the single player campaign. You can't do that if you get blocked at a boss fight or a particularly tough mission. So if you have to toss a couple grenades or use a health kit to get past and reach the potentially less-taxing stages that follow, go for it. They're not so rare that you need to hoard them.

screen1136x1136

Make sure you login each day to get your daily bonus, at least for the first 20 days. Yes, this is tool-tip level stuff, but it's important. Sometimes the daily bonus will give you something of limited use, like a PVP power-up, but you can also get items and cash, and if you manage to log in for 20 consecutive days, you'll get an awesome shotgun. The consecutive login rewards fall off pretty badly after that, but if you can spare a minute each day when you're not actively playing, it'll make things easier for you when you do.

Go for the team captain in PVP matches. They're almost always carrying the most dangerous weapon, so take them out first. You can see each character's name underneath them, so you just have to go after the one with the same name as the player you challenged. After that, you'll probably want to take care of the medic if they're using one, followed by snipers, then cleaning up whatever's left. Be especially careful if the team captain is using a sniper or shotgun, since either one can wreck you quickly.

Take advantage of both PVP and campaign modes. PVP requires stamina, so whenever you sit down to play the game a little, you should start by having a PVP match, just to get the timer going on recovering a stamina point. PVP matches are a good source of extra money and, occasionally, items, though as mentioned before, they don't give much in the way of experience points. Ranking up in PVP can get you access to some cool squad members and items that will prove useful. Campaign mode has no stamina bar, but there are some hard challenge-walls. Play as far as you can, then go back and try to get three skulls on earlier challenges to squeeze out every reward. Finish up your session by using your remaining PVP stamina. You'll progress more quickly all around by bouncing between the two modes.

screen1136x1136

Until war changes yet again, the tips in this guide should help you play Frontline Commando 2 as effectively as possible without actually tossing any money at it. Besides, what fun is it to just use your pocketbook to buy your way to victory? It's much sweeter if you actually earn it, even if it does take a while. If you've got any other good advice or fresh comedy, please feel free to post it in the comments below.

Game Review on Traffic Racer

Game Review on Traffic Racer

9Game: When video games are cited for corrupting our youth and setting them off along an unlawful path, it's usually outlandishly violent examples like Doom or Manhunt. I'd argue that Traffic Racer is far more like to prompt a real-life felony.

Having spent some time with this accomplished arcade racer-cum-endless-runner, I fear for the next person who steps into the passenger seat of my car.

Road rage

The key appeal to Traffic Racer is that it touches on that peculiar urge most drivers have to suppress at one time or other.

You're sat in traffic on the same boring stretch of road, eager to get to somewhere more fun. Anywhere, in fact. Wouldn't we all love to put our foot down and thread between the dawdling lanes of traffic like some Hollywood hotshot?

Traffic Racer is a very simple game, but its greatest achievement is that it models that simple tire-screeching duck and weave sensation to near perfection.

You view your car from behind. Acceleration is on the right side of the screen, while brakes are to the left. Steering is achieved by tilting your iPhone or iPad, and it's very responsive indeed, to the point that you'll be threading in between traffic like a stunt driver in no time.

Points on your licence

You gain points for maintaining a speed above 100kph, overtaking cars, and driving against the flow of traffic.

There's not a lot more to Traffic Racer than this, really. It's got a clean, chunky visual style that suits the real-life premise nicely, but it's unlikely to excite.

Teen Patti - Indian Poker:The Origin of Poker

Teen Patti - Indian Poker-The Origin of Poker

Do you know the origin of Teen Patti - Indian Poker. Let us go back in time, before there was a game called Texas Hold'em, or even before there was a game called poker.

While it is commonly believed that poker was created about the same time that Adam and Eve left the garden of Eden, or even that playing poker in the Garden of Eden was the actual reason for them leaving, despite what other sources may say about apples or snakes, the actual appearance of playing cards occurred around 1377.
The actual beginning of card games, as we know them today, was first recorded by a Swiss Monk named John of Rheinfelden. John recorded a card game played in 1377 with a deck of 52 cards. The cards ranged from 1 to 10 in value. This seems to be the best evidence that 1377 is the first year that history documented a card game being played with a 52 deck of cards.

The Chinese were recorded as participating in the actual playing of card games around 950. However, even though it seems clear that the Chinese were probably the first to play a game with cards, the card deck did not contain 52 cards as a modern deck does and the game the Chinese played was more akin to dominos than poker.

So, as far as the origin of a 52 card deck, and games played with it goes, it seems the John from Rheinfelden tale holds the most water, as he took the time to write about the game he observed in 1377.

Having established written records of card games played with 52 card decks in 1377, next is the task of searching the origin of modern poker.

Since 1377 a number of cards games have been played with 52 card decks, most of which bear little or no resemblance to poker. Many were card games just for recreation, but without betting or wagering, while others were betting games but had no similarity to poker. After extensive research, I found two games that had not only similarities to poker and were betting games, but actually used many of the phrases we use for modern poker.

First, I discovered the game from India called "Teen Patti". The game included betting rounds like poker and was played with a 52 card deck. "Teen Patti" also uses a number of poker phrases and hand rankings similar to poker.

Secondly is the old English game of "Brag" which not only includes the similarities of "Teen Patti" but is most likely the origin of modern poker phrases like: blind, blinds, flush, pot, etc. Brag also had betting rules and card ranking similar to modern poker and was played in 3 different versions using either 3, 4, or 5 or more cards dealt to each player. Most importantly, the game involved bluffing, which is what separates poker from most other card games.

However, Brag or Poker could not have been played until cards which contained the four suits of Spades, Hearts, Diamonds and Clubs had been invented. Diligent research reveals that these suits were invented by the French and standardized throughout Europe by 1480 as the commonly agreed upon suits of the 52 card deck. Now that we have at least the minimum tools required to play Brag and Poker, let's see how long it took our ingenious forefathers to come up with these games.

Early versions of Poker games (called The Lying Game) were described by Joseph Crowell in writing in 1829. Brag games are considered much older and may predate poker by a few hundred years; although, no written records appear to exist to actually date when the first Brag game was played. It is documented that early settlers to America from England brought with them both Cards and their Brag type card games, which eventually became so popular that even native Indians took up the game of Brag or similar gambling card games.

Around the 1850's the Riverboat gamblers were born. These were the early pioneers of Poker, both in the old west and on the riverboats, and they were a curious combination of Professional card players, gamblers, gunfighters and cheats. We assume that the gun fighting skills were essential if you wanted to survive cheating at cards. Various forms of poker flourished, including 3 Card Monte and early versions of stud poker.
The name "Poker" may have evolved around that time from either the French card game name 'Poque', or the German card game expression of 'Poche' or also a possibility, considering the number of cheats and pickpockets who played cards, the slang word for stealing, which was "Poke". Its pretty clear that one of these three names was the origin of the word 'Poker'. The 'Poke' theory is especially interesting, as it already had four of the first letters right and the first poker games were aptly described as 'The Cheating Game' or 'The Lying Game'

From these games and others, Stud Poker eventually evolved to become

the worlds most popular poker game.

As for the modern game of Texas Hold'em Poker, this apparently was invented around the 1920's after it was discovered that the game of Stud Poker could not accommodate all the Texas ranchers that wanted to play, since the cards would run out before all the players had been dealt their cards. Legend has it that it was invented in Texas, which seems reasonable, considering the name. Texas Hold'em Poker, despite its apparent appeal both to beginning poker players and seasoned veterans, did not take the world by storm. In fact, Hold'em poker did not become widely popular until it was adopted as the game of choice for tournaments such as 'The World series of Poker' and later the 'World Poker Tour'.

Join me next time, as I look into what many consider to be the world's first 'famous poker player'.

Dead Trigger 2 Fires Its Way to Best App Ever 2014 Victory

Dead Trigger 2 Fires Its Way to Best App
Ever 2014 Victory

Dead Trigger 2, the hyper realistic zombie FPS title from Madfinger Games, has obliterated the competition in this year's Best App Ever Awards on Android.

Taking the top spot as the Best App Ever for 2014, the Most Innovative App and the Most Innovative Game, it has proven that the appetite for zombie games on Android is roughly equivalent to the appetite the zombies have for brains in the action packed shooter.

Every play they're shuffling

Candy Crushing Saga

Of course, it was far from the only winner in the awards organised by our lovely sister site 148 Apps. Candy Crush Saga clashed with Supercell to win the Best Casual Game award, while Fifa 2014 took advantage of World Cup fever to emerge as the top sports title.
Meanwhile, Toonslab's gangster themed multiplayer action game Graalonline Era romped to victory in the Best Arcade and Action category. There was also good news for Doctor Who: Legacy from Tiny Rebel Games, who proved that the Doctor really is the cleverest man in the universe by winning the Best Brain and Puzzle game award.

And one final vignette about the seemingly never ending popularity of the living dead, Zombies, Run! by Six to Start ran away with the prize for the Best Health and Fitness app on Android.

The winners parade

If you thought that was where the fun ends though, then you'd be totally and utterly wrong. Even with all those lovely winners announced so far, there are still over a dozen other award winners left to check out in categories as diverse as Best Business App and Most Useful App (those two categories being mutually exclusive of course).
So why not head on over to the Best App Ever Awards home page to check out who else has won the prize and join us in toasting the best of the best in the Android ecosystem. Huzzah!

A special thanks to iDreamSky, the largest mobile game publishing platform in China, for sponsoring the Best App Ever Awards

'Frontline Commando 2' Review - One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

'Frontline Commando 2' Review - One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Following hot on the heels of their movie-licensed shooterRobocop, Glu Games has finally taken their follow-up toFrontline Commando and Frontline Commando: D-Day out of soft launch and into wide release. Robocop itself used many of the same mechanics as the Frontline Commandogames, so it's perhaps not that surprising that some of the new elements in Frontline Commando 2 echo certain parts of it. Luckily, one thing they didn't carry over, at least not completely, is the stamina meter, but even without that hanging over its head, Frontline Commando 2 is kind of a dud sequel, particularly when held against D-Day.
Photo 2014-03-21, 15 31 13Before I really get into it, let's get it out of the way. Yes, this is a free-to-play game, and its design reflects that at almost every level. Ads will occasionally pop up between battles, upgrades have timers on them, there's a premium currency that can grease all kinds of wheels for a price, and the difficulty is stacked against you such that by a certain point in the game, you'll almost certainly need to grind. These are all aspects that in a perfect world would not be present in the game and the experience would be better for it. If free-to-play elements turn you off, you may want to do a little 360 and moonwalk out the door right now, because apart from lacking a stamina meter in its campaign mode, all the all-stars of that type of design are here.
Rather than placing you in any real war as its predecessors do, Frontline Commando 2puts you in the role of a mercenary who has been left for dead and is seeking revenge. Like the other games in the series, this is a third-person cover shooter, with no actual freedom of movement. The environments are distinctly more urban than the settings in the previous two games, and your main character isn't quite so identifiably part of the American military. One of the most obvious new aspects is that in this game, you have to build a squad to support you in combat. They're actually not entirely useless, and will often kill enemies on their own. They are, however, yet another money sink in a game that really didn't need more, since you have to train them up as you go along if you want to have a chance.
In total, the campaign spans just over 50 missions, a decent amount even if it is dwarfed by the mission counts in its frequently-updated predecessors. Each mission has you taking out a set number of targets, trying to check off sub-goals on the way for extra money. After a set number of missions, you'll face off against a boss, after which you'll get another piece of the story delivered via a cut scene. The missions themselves don't run more than a few minutes in length, making for a fairly short game if it were just a matter of smashing your way through. Naturally, that's not possible, since your weapons, health, and squad are rapidly outpaced by the escalating power level of the opposing forces.
Clearing missions earns you various rewards, but first and foremost is cash. You can use cash to upgrade your weapons, train your squad, and buy some of the new weapons. You're going to need to do all of these things to keep moving along in the missions, and in order to have enough cash to do so, you're probably going to have to go back to previously cleared missions and grind some out now and then. You'll also earn other rewards if you clear sub-goals, such as gold, items, and new squad members. The sub-goals are varied, having you to do things like rack up a certain number of headshots or destroy enemy transport vehicles, giving you something to do in each stage besides point and shoot mindlessly. Getting the new squad members is particularly important, since, like your weapons, at some point your earlier members are going to become virtually useless, no matter how much you upgrade them.
